Four seasons to shake the honey

The main economic benefits of beekeeping come from shaking honey. In different seasons, the method of shaking honey is not the same. As far as the Yangtze River is concerned, the basic principles for shaking honey are: Spring is early, summer is important, autumn is stable, and winter is a must.

1, spring early

After the beginning of spring, the queen bees began to lay eggs, and the bees went out to collect. The enthusiasm of nurturing young children increased day by day; especially the bee, when the temperature was warm and cold, he flew around and collected scattered nectar. They generally produced the first batch of mature honey before and after the end of March. In addition to raising their own children and eating food, they still have ample storage. Together with the surplus winter feed, they laid the foundation for the honey in early spring. As the number of flowering plants grows in the spring, honey can be released in a timely manner so that the bees can store their nests when they enter the honey, thus stimulating the worker bees to actively go out to collect honey and promote the early reproduction and development of the bees. However, shaking honey in the morning is not to wipe out the honey. We must leave enough food for bee colonies.

2. Xia Yaoqin

The number of shake honey in summer should increase appropriately. Especially in early summer, the major honey plants have blossomed and secreted their honey. The field bees enter honey with high speed and quantity, and the internal bees are processed day and night; therefore, they must be diligently shaken on the premise of ensuring sufficient feed honey. For example, during the flowering period of citrus, rapeseed, and jujube trees, honey can be shaken once in 3 to 5 days. Ground shaking honey can promote worker bees to actively collect honey. After the end of the main honey flowering period, the honey source that comes along with it is scattered. At this time, the interval between honey shakes should be appropriately increased, and it is usually shaken 15 to 20 days. In the summer heat season, there are few flowers, and you can pause for some time.

3, autumn to be stable, winter to stop

One is that autumn flowers are significantly less than summer flowers, and the amount of honey collected by worker bees is reduced. Shake honey needs to be appropriate. The main source of honey in the fall is wild flowers such as buckwheat flowers and wild chrysanthemums. Generally, shake honey 1 to 2 times. Second, after the fall is the winter, less honey source, the climate is cold, the worker bees come out of the nest to reduce their nests, so in the fall, honey is also thought to leave enough feed for the bee colony. Wintering feed storage, rather than leaving more surplus, indispensable and in short supply, otherwise it will add a lot of trouble to the overwintering management work, and even cause losses to the bee colony. Taking the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River as an example, the overwintering feed of Chinese bees can store 400 to 500 g of honey per spleen, while the western bees require much more. Taking 5 spleen as an example, each group needs 12 to 15 kg, which means that Prepare 5 to 6 honey spleen to meet their wintering needs.
